LaMar Cleveland CapenerAugust 15, 1932 ~ May 22, 2017 (age 84)
LaMar Cleveland Capener, 84, passed away on May 22, 2017, at his home in Kaysville, Utah. He was born on August 15, 1932 to Russell and Mildred Capener in Tremonton, Utah.
LaMar attended and graduated from Bear River High School. He also attended Utah State University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in welding, which did not help him in trimming trees or mowing lawns.
He married Betty JaNae Nish on June 10, 1960 in the Logan LDS Temple.
LaMar worked at Thiokol and for the Department of Defense as a Civilian Contract Negotiator. He retired from Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, where he gave up his comfortable office for a jackhammer.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
LaMar loved scouting and earned the Silver Beaver Award. He enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, tree trimming, gardening and helping others.
He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Bishop in Utah, England, and Illinois. He served for many years as a Scoutmaster and a Temple Worker for over 20 years.
LaMar is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Cindy (Bret) Anderson, Terry (Lori) Capener, Jennifer (Kelly) Fishburn, Michael Capener, and Elizabeth Capener; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and his siblings Winona Gardner, Lowell Capener, Mickey Sorenson, Homer Capener, Kathleen Christensen and Jerry Capener.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for LaMar will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Viewings will be held on Tuesday evening, May 30, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral service on Wednesday from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. All services will be held at the Kaysville Stake Center (201 S. 600 E., Kaysville, UT). Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery at 3p.m.
