Portage- Michael Craig Millward, 63, passed away at his home on November 14, 2018. Mike was born on March 14, 1955 in Tooele, Utah to Alice Millward and Don Millward. He is married to Deana Gloria Barela Millward. They were married on October 16, 1981.
Mike attended Bear River High School until the age of 16, when he got consent from his Mother to join the Navy. He served for six years in Vietnam. After the Navy, he attended Weber State University pursuing a degree in Music. He was unable to finish due to a bad motorcycle accident.
He worked for La-Z-Boy and construction for a couple of years, Nucor Steel and Western Metals for over 20 years. His favorite job was working as a hunting guide for 27 years. He would have done that forever if it were up to him.
Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman. People called him “The Mountain Man”. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing to his kids. He could play any song just by listening to it a few times. He had a special gift when it came to music. He also made up silly songs, just to brighten someone’s day.
He was not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but he did follow their beliefs. He read his scriptures faithfully every single night.
Mike is survived by his wife, Deana Millward; daughters, Anna (Ryan) Starr, Vanessa (Corey) Warren, Elysia Torrez, and Stacey (Matt) Stewart; father, Don Millward; siblings, Butch Millward, Donna (Troy) Sibert, Jennifer Langston, Brenda (Charles) Nattress, David Millward; eight grandsons; six granddaughters; many nieces and nephews; and many others that looked up to him as a father figure.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Brockman Millward; step-mother, Jackie Millward; sister, Annamarie; grandparents, Marlow & Eva Millward; nephews, Brandon & Luke Dworshak, Sister-in-laws, Dorothy Sheriff & Shanon Archuleta; mother-in-law, Delfinia Barela; nieces, Angelina & Amelia Horne; and nephews, Jesse & James Maldonado.
Funeral services for Mike will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in the Belmont LDS Chapel (16925 N. 5200 W.- Riverside). A viewing will be held on Friday evening, November 23, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E.- Tremonton) Interment in the Riverside Cemetery.
