Death Certificate Form
Surrounded by loved ones, Peggy Ann Porritt returned to her Heavenly Father Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at the Beehive Assisted Living Facility in Brigham City, Utah. Peggy was born March 18, 1938, to Lawrence Oleen and Damsel Arene Nelson in Tremonton, Utah. On September 7, 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Ray Porritt, in the Logan Latter-Day Saint Temple. They were blessed with 4 children. Her greatest treasure in life was her family. She loved spending time with them. Some of her greatest loves were being outdoors, camping, woodworking, hemstitching and quilting… and ice cream.
In her youth, she was involved in 4H, helped on the family farm and participated in a variety of church activities. She attended Bear River High School. After high school, she worked for First Security Bank in Tremonton, Utah. After raising her children, she was employed at La-Z-Boy. After the death of her mother, Peggy resumed her mother’s hemstitching business and continued to do so for over 15 years. People would come from far and wide to get their hemstitching done. She took classes at Bridgerland Applied Technology College where she created many incredible pieces of furniture, some of which were extremely unique and have become family heirlooms. Throughout her life she made many lifelong friends. She was a true friend to all and would do anything for anyone. For close to 15 years, she and her family spent their summers taking care of the Bear River City park. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all of her life, serving in a variety of callings in Primary, Scouting and Relief Society.
She is survived by her 4 children, Cindy (Brooke) Denkers; Penny (Bruce) Simmons; Casey (TeriLyn) Porritt; and Dustin (Cheryl) Porritt; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mitzi Nessler and Kristy (Craig) Christensen; and 2 brothers Neil (Merrilyn) Nelson and Robert (Judy) Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Audrey (Dick) Spry; her brother, Clyde (Darlene) Nelson and her brother’s wife Judy Nelson. She is now having a wonderful reunion with loved ones who have gone before her.
A viewing will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints meetinghouse at 5870 N 4700 W, Bear River City, Utah, on Sunday, January 27, 2019, from 5-7 PM and Monday, January 28, at 9:30-11:15 AM followed by the funeral service at noon. Interment will be at the Bear River City Cemetery.
