Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Alan Luris Chapman, age 70, unexpectedly passed away at his home in Corinne, Utah on June 20, 2026. Alan was born on December 24, 1955, in Gunnison Utah to Corless and Carol Chapman. He spent his early years living in Centerville and attending Viewmont High School.
He was called to the Tennessee-Nashville mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served for 2 years. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings in the church. He met the love of his life, Glenda Walters, on a young single adult river rafting trip in Moab and was later married in the Salt Lake City Temple on March 20, 1980.
Alan worked as a taxidermist, a mechanic at Lagoon, a painter, a construction worker, and as a truck driver. He was a handyman in all trades and offered those talents to those around him. Outside of work, he loved and found joy in hunting, fishing, floating the river, woodworking and supporting his grandkids in all their endeavors. If he wasn’t doing the things that he loved he was always talking about them, telling stories or watching videos!
Alan lived a life marked by faith, serving others, honesty, dedication and love for his family, friends, neighbors and the outdoors. He will be remembered for whistling in the kitchen or humming a song in the mornings, all his jokes, his contagious smile, his love of the outdoors and sharing that with his family and friends.
While his family grieves his earthly absence, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. In Matthew 25:23, “Well done, good and faithful servant…Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
He is survived by his wife Glenda Chapman; his children Brooke Wells (Kory), Tiffany Bott (Lance), Dan Chapman (Jen), Ty Chapman (Ashley), and Jared Chapman (Alyssa). His grandchildren Kyree, Cooper, Kapree, Deegan, Grayson, Stella, Porter, Madilyn, Dalan, Hudson, Hailee, Dune, Mila, Riggin, Eloree, Lincoln, Wesley, and Mercie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Corless Chapman and Carol Gene Carson, his sister Nicole Chapman, his father-in-law Vern Walters and his brother-in-law Allen Argyle.
A viewing will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Corinne 2nd Ward LDS church building (2335 N 4000 W- Corinne) from 10:00 am until 11:30 am., followed by a graveside service at Noon at the Corinne Cemetery (2000 W N, Corinne). Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebrate his life.
