Alan Simper, beloved father, brother, son, and friend, passed away far too soon on September 6, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on April 25, 1950, in Brigham City, Utah, Alan was the son of Grant and Geraldine Simper. He grew up surrounded by family and love alongside his sisters, Debbie, Janice, and JoAnn.

Alan's life took him through many different experiences and careers. In his high school years, he competed as a bareback rider in high school rodeo. He later served an LDS mission in the Netherlands before returning home and working in heavy construction and trucking. For most of his professional career, Alan worked as a computer service technician, a field that reflected his practical nature and ability to figure things out. Later in life, he devoted time to serving in leadership positions in the LDS Church.

Alan was a man of many talents, but his greatest gift was his ability to create. A gifted woodworker, Alan could turn a simple piece of wood into something beautiful and lasting. With skilled hands and a creative spirit, he built everything from intricate small pieces to sturdy chairs to homes and barns. Each project reflected his patience, craftsmanship, and pride in a job well done. The things he created will continue to be enjoyed and remembered as lasting pieces of his legacy.

Alan also had a true zest for life. He loved to dance and was always willing to travel for a good dance, sometimes driving hours simply because he had discovered a place where he could enjoy the music and the moment. Dancing brought him happiness, and he loved sharing that joy with others.

He was equally at home in the great outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature gave Alan a sense of peace and adventure. Some of his happiest memories were made outdoors, including the times he spent helping his best friend, Dennis Poulsen, on the farm. Alan valued hard work, good company, and the simple pleasures that made life meaningful.

Alan treasured the relationships that were closest to his heart. His love for his son, Jed Simper, was a special and cherished part of his life. Jed will carry their shared memories and his father's legacy of kindness, devotion, and creativity forward. Alan shared a deep and lifelong bond with his sister, JoAnn Hansen, and their many years of memories together were an important part of his life. Alan is also survived by his daughters, Katie Reeder and Heidi Simper, their seven children, and one great-grandchild.

Alan leaves behind much more than memories. He leaves behind the things he created, the places he explored, the music he danced to, the friendships he valued, and the lasting memories shared with those who were closest to him.

Alan is now reunited with his parents, Grant and Geraldine; his sisters, Debbie and Janice; and his beloved dog, Lulu, who was a constant companion by his side. We can imagine that Lulu was there to greet him, just as she always was.

In keeping with Alan's wishes, no ceremony will be held. Instead, those who knew and loved Alan are invited to remember him by celebrating the life he lived and the people he loved.
