Ann Gloria Kinney

Heaven gained a beautiful angel on October 11, 2025, when Ann Gloria Petersen Abel Sorenson Kinney passed away, at the age of 86, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family in Tremonton, Utah.

Gloria was born on March 3, 1939, in Tremonton, Utah to LeRoy C. Petersen and Sena Cleon Thompson Petersen. She was the second of three girls: Diana and LaPrele. They grew up on a farm in Bothwell, Utah. The girls worked hard on the farm since they didn't have any brothers. She attended Thatcher Elementary, Bothwell Elementary and graduated from Bear River High School in 1957. Gloria continued her education in Salt Lake City, Utah at Ex-Cel-Cis Beauty Salon & School.

She worked 11 years in a salon on Tremonton's Main Street. They then converted their garage into a salon when her children started attending school and worked 33 more years making friendships with her clients while doing their hair.

She also worked a couple of years at the Crossroads attending the cash register.

Gloria married James Garnet Abel Jr. on June 22, 1961, and later divorced. They had two daughters; Nanette and Suzie.

She married Gerald Lynn Sorenson on June 24, 1989. After his passing she married Hugh Ray Kinney on June 11, 2005, who later passed away.

Gloria enjoyed yard work, painting, ceramics, sewing, cooking, scrap booking, doing genealogy, dancing, reading scriptures, cross word puzzles and playing solitaire on the floor. She was an awesome cook and liked sharing her food with family, neighbors, and friends. It was hard when she got older to give up hosting all the family parties. Her neighbors were like extended family that we all grew to love and appreciate their kindness and friendship.

Gloria and Jim enjoyed many family posse rides in Logan Canyon, ladies night meals at the fairgrounds and serving in the Box Elder County breakfast each fair time.

Gary and Gloria enjoyed driving in his cool red Corvette to painting shows and adventures. She also enjoyed hosting family parties held in her home.

Hugh and Gloria enjoyed going to Saint George in the winter and attending Home Shows and hosting family in February.

She supported her family to many ball games, dancing competitions, school activities, and horse showmanship contests. Gloria loved to stay busy and was very ambitious. She enjoyed empty nesters and looked forward to playing cards on Thursdays with her friends.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she shared her testimony through service in Young Women, Primary, librarian and an ordinance worker in the Logan Temple. She carpooled with her good neighbors: Ann & Eugene Smith and Marie Roche.

She is survived by her children Nanette (Bart) Bowcutt of Tremonton and Suzie (Tom) Petersen of Layton, 18 grandchildren, two sisters; Diana (Fred) Sorensen and LaPrele (Bernard) Hill. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, husbands; Jim, Gary and Hugh and granddaughter Oakley Pearl Heaps.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11 A.M. Viewings will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, from 6-8 P.M and prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 A.M. All services will be held at the Tremonton South Stake Center (1150 S Tremont Street- Tremonton). Interment will follow in the Valley View Bothwell Cemetery.
