Barbara Cummins Harris

Barbara Cummins Harris, age 98, passed away on March 7, 2023 in Spanish Fork, Utah. She was born on March 7, 1925 to Philip and Verla Cummins. Barbara married James William “Bill” Harris on August 9, 1941 in Rupert, Idaho. Bill passed away on June 25, 2009.

Barbara lived in Oakley, Idaho; Hawthorne, Nevada; Tremonton, Utah; and Spanish Fork, Utah throughout her life.

She attended Dam School in Oakley, Idaho up to the 8^th grade.

Barbara was employed as a Civil Service Ordinance Man for the US Navy. Barbara received many citations for her work in the Navy. She retired in 1979.

In 1979 Barbara was awarded Yard of the Year Award in Tremonton City.

Barbara was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While living in Hawthorne, Nevada, Barbara was the second counselor in the Young Women’s Mutual Association from 1941-1963, Primary Teacher from 1949-1979, Teacher in mutual for girls 15-20 years, Young Women’s Mutual Presidency for 30 years and in the Relief Society Presidency.

While living in Tremonton, Utah mom taught Primary, she was over the single sisters in Tremonton 6^th Ward for 15 years, and Bessie Calderwood and mom did visiting teaching for 10 years and visited approximately 20-25 women. Mom attended the temple monthly, doing initiatory work for 12 names each time. She has done initiatory work for over 2000 people. Mom was instrumental in converting over 1000 people into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Barbara is survived by her son James Dennis Harris; her grandchildren: Kory Steven Harris (son of Mark Harris), TeAhna Corrine Harris, James Dustin Harris, and TaNaya Colleen Harris (children of Dennis Harris); her great grandchildren: Austin Moyer & Taylor Moyer (children of TeAhna Corrine Harris); her sisters: Marjory Hurd, Marla Rae Perry, Sharlene Humphrey, Glenda Lee Lloyd and her brothers: Donald H Cummins and Philip Cummins.

She is preceded in death by her son, Mark Steven Harris; grandchildren, Sara Danéle Harris (daughter of Mark Harris) and TaLeah Christine Harris (daughter of Dennis and Tamera Harris).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1 P.M. with a viewing held prior from 11:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. All services will be held at the Tremonton Stake Center (660 N 300 E- Tremonton). Interment in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery (200 E 1200 S- Tremonton).
