Brendan Shakur

February 24, 1991 — May 4, 2017

Brendan F. Knell Shakur, 26, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 in a tragic car accident near Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Brendan was born February 24, 1991 in Brigham City, Utah to Frank “Bud” & LeighAnn Knell.

Brendan was such a curious young boy, always wanting to know how something worked and why. He excelled in school, graduating from Northridge High School in 2009 with high honors.  Brendan had many talents, he loved photography and very seldom would you see him without his camera. He loved the outdoors, camping, snowboarding, and riding 4-wheelers with family and friends. He had a kind heart with a love for animals.

At the age of 16, Brendan started working at Smith’s grocery store as a bagger and worked his way up to a lead CSM. He was a hard worker and he loved his Smith’s co-workers as if they were family.

Brendan has one brother, Jace and one sister, Shaeleigh, he was the best big brother either one could ask for. He was always kind, caring and offering advice, even if they didn’t know they needed it.

On March 12, 2016 Brendan married Andrew Shakur. One of the happiest times of his life was when he became a husband and father, he loved Mayah with his whole heart.

Brendan attended Weber State University and was just short a few credits of earning his Bachelor’s degree in business.

Brendan is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Betty Knell and Frank H. Knell.

He will be greatly missed by all those he leaves behind. Husband, Andrew Shakur (Ogden, UT); daughter, Mayah; his parents, Bud & LeighAnn Knell (Clinton, UT); in-laws, Shareef & Tina Shakur (Farr West, UT); siblings, Jace and Shaeleigh Knell (Clinton, UT); Grandparents, Gaylon & Lynn Knell (Bothwell, UT), Kent & Susan Lish (Garland, UT), and JoAnne Velazquez (Brigham City, UT); aunts and uncles, Stephanie Branam (Washington), Marcy Perry (Logan, UT), Zan & Mindy Nelson (Garland, UT); Justin Lish (Garland, UT); many other cousins and extended family; and great uncles, Scott & David Knell (San Francisco, CA) they meant the world to Brendan.
