After patiently waiting, Dad finally came back for Mom. He softly kissed her on the cheek as he took her by the hand to return to heaven with him.
On January 2nd, Mom reluctantly went to be with Dad and their babies. Carolyn has been resting while Dad prepared for them to be together once again. Her leaving with him left each of us that loved her with amazing memories and huge holes in our hearts.
Carolyn John Allred was born June 28th, 1935 in Brigham City, Utah. She was the first born and oldest daughter of Owen David John and Sarah Bradshaw Murray John. Carolyn was preceded in death by both her parents and her and Doug's first-born children, Melanie Ann and Randy Jay. The twins were born in September of 1953, arriving way too early and staying just a few hours. Carolyn's younger sister Sharon John lives in Garland. Elizabeth Groendyke and younger brother, David John, (Kristine) both reside in Tremonton.
Never far from their parents, Carolyn & Doug's other children are Vicki Rhodes- Merryweather (Brad), Kurt Allred (Jo), Brian Allred (Marva) and Marc Allred (Deborah). They boast being grandparents to 10, Great Grandparents to 22 and now Great, Great Grandparents!
While in High school Carolyn and Doug became sweethearts. They were married on September 4th 1952. Their marriage was later sealed for time and eternity in the Logan Utah Temple.
When Carolyn and Doug were first married, Doug ran the Beeline Service station near the Crossroads in Tremonton. She supported him with that and his part time job as a rodeo clown in the Little Buckaroo Rodeo. As often as possible, they attended dances and obviously enjoyed dancing together.
Mom's family was her priority and her passion. She had an uninhibited zest for life that was enjoyed by everyone that came in contact with her. She loved cooking and baking and was always on the hunt for new recipes. Carolyn's spare time was used creating beautiful things. Her love of embroidery work began at a young age. Mom's hands were never idle as there was always a project (or ten) in progress. You could find her on her hands and knees in the backyard as she loved being there, watching the birds and all of her flowers.
Over Carolyn's' life her jobs included various church callings, owning a ceramic business in Garland called the Pottery Hut, and a secondhand consignment shop called Granny's Attic. She worked to become a real estate Agent and they opened an office in Tremonton. Before retiring, Carolyn received honors as an agent for Coldwell Banker.
Once retired, Carolyn spent her time creating more beautiful handwork, which included wall hangings that were often shared with her family. Every stitch taken she filled with love.
Thoughts and memories of Mom have and will continue to BRIGHTEN OUR LIVES! We are grateful that all of Mom's special moments and memories, that have been hidden, will return to her and live forever in her heart!
Thank you to everyone at OUR HOUSE in Tremonton for loving Mom and taking such good care of her. We are blessed as a community to have such a wonderful place for our loved ones to be!
