Carrie Kathryn (Calder) Kerr

December 3, 1933 — October 2, 2025

Tremonton

Carrie Kathryn Calder Kerr, 91, passed away on October 2, 2025, in North Logan, Utah. Carrie was born December 3, 1933, in Vernal, Utah, to goodly parents, Leo and Lucile Hacking Calder. She was the seventh of eight children: Glen, Don, Lucy, Rachel, Joseph, Mary Alice, and Fred.

She graduated from Uintah High School in 1952 and then attended Brigham Young University, earning a degree in Elementary Education. She taught second grade in Salt Lake City for three years.

She married C. Duane Kerr on July 8, 1958, in the Logan Temple. They were blessed to have six children: Darin, Brian, Kaleen, Cameron, Kimberly, and Karalee. They had a wonderful life together, living in Tremonton, Utah, where they also made many forever friends.

Carrie was privileged to be a homemaker and a full-time Mom, which she treasured. She dedicated her life to raising her family and supporting her husband throughout their 67 years of marriage. Their home was lovingly called “Kerr Bed & Breakfast” as they hosted many overnight guests.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many positions, including stake Primary president and ward Young Women’s president and camp director. She served as a teacher in Primary, Relief Society, Young Women, and as nursery leader, all of which brought her much growth and experience.

Carrie and Duane served in the Church and Family History Mission in Salt Lake City. She helped library patrons, and he served as the mission physician. They also served as ordinance workers in the Logan Temple. She was quick to form friendships with her associates in her callings and service.

Carrie enjoyed many hobbies and activities: sewing for her family, gardening, canning, and piecing quilt tops. She took many photos of her growing family and organized them into treasured photo albums. She loved to attend BYU Education Week and Women’s Conference. She took many community classes in cooking, sewing, and computers. Rotating a one-year supply of food was a constant challenge.

Carrie’s legacy: Sit by someone who is sitting alone and introduce yourself.

She is survived by her husband, C. Duane Kerr, her children, Brian (Susie), Kaleen Jerman (Roger), Cameron Fowles (Dave), Kimberly Spackman, Karalee Rees (Kirt), her daughter-in-law, Myra, 28 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Rachel Ashworth, Lucy Woolley, and Mary Alice Diehl; her brothers Glen Calder, Don Calder, Joseph Calder, and Fred Calder; a son, Darin Kerr; a son-in-law, Shane King; and grandchildren, Lindsey Burgess Kerr, Kaleb Rees, and McKay Rees.

The funeral will be held Saturday, October 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 N 300 E, Tremonton. Friends and family are invited to reminisce together at a viewing that morning from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Tremonton. In lieu of flowers, please express your sympathy to the family with a contribution to the Humanitarian Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed below.

Carrie would like to thank the women who provided years of friendship and housekeeping. They were heaven-sent: Florence, Betty, Jenny, Mary, Jane, Polly, DeeDee, Colleen, Karla, Yvonne, Teri, Mailee, Linda, Keri, and Jeannie.
