Clifton Duane Kerr passed away peacefully at home on December 2, 2025. He was born on August 21, 1933, to Clifton George Mercer and Irene Pack Kerr in Tremonton, Utah, and grew up on the farm with his brothers, Rolfe, John, and Nolan.
He attended McKinley Elementary School, Bear River High School, BYU, Utah State, and the University of Utah School of Medicine. He married Carrie Kathryn Calder of Vernal in the Logan Temple on July 8, 1958. They had six children, 31 grandchildren, and 56 great-grandchildren.
Duane served in the Canadian Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (in Ontario and Quebec) and in many church callings, including scoutmaster, counselor in two bishoprics, bishop, and high councilor. He and Carrie served a mission at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, where he served as the mission physician. They also served as ordinance workers in the Logan Temple.
He practiced medicine in his hometown for 25 years, then served as Medical Director at Thiokol (now Northrop Grumman) for 16 years.
A man of many interests, he loved hunting and enjoyed many related hobbies, including taxidermy, leatherwork, reloading ammo, stocking rifles, and raising and training quarter horses and bird dogs. He enjoyed photography and his computer; played the guitar, piano, and organ; and built many of his own musical instruments, including a guitar, bass, banjo, and clavichord.
He could fix most things that quit working and liked to make something out of nothing. This gave him more things to do than he could finish. When he read the obituary of a man who "never left a job unfinished," he said of himself, “My obituary can read, ‘He never left a project unstarted.’”
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie, and his son, Darin. He is survived by his children, Brian (Susie) Kerr, Eagle, Idaho; Kaleen (Roger) Jerman, American Fork; Cami (David) Fowles, Hyde Park; Kimberly Spackman, Tremonton; and Karalee (Kirt) Rees, Tremonton; and his daughter-in-law, Myra Kerr, Preston, Idaho; 28 living grandchildren, and his brothers.
