Daisy "Daye" Louise Pugsley Abbott

Daisy “Daye” Louise Pugsley Abbott, 71, passed away on October 19th 2022 at University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Daye was born on September 17th 1951 in Brigham City, Utah to Philip Alonzo Pugsley and Elinore Daisy Mandry. Daye was preceded in death by her mother, father, bother (James “Jim” Philip Pugsley) and sister (Sheryl Elinore White).

She was married to Steven Champneys then to Jed Russell Abbott. From these marriages she had three children; Stephen Carlyle Champneys White Jr (born December 31, 1968), Dawn Antoinette Abbott Weber (born October 18th 1971) and Jed Roy Abbott (born August 16th 1981). Following her marriages, Daye reconnected with her long-time friend and partner, John George Kepros where they enjoyed spending time with her 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Daye graduated from Bear River High School then continued her education where she earned two Master degrees, one in Business and the other in Accounting. She dedicated her life to helping others where she directly supported numerous support agencies.  Daye diligently spent many years of service with Rocky Mountain Rescue Dogs Incorporated where she supplied search and rescue operations throughout the rocky mountain region.  Following her service, she devoted her life to animals in need.  She spent much of her later years supporting pet adoption agencies and was later the founder of the Utah Adopt Me Society.

Daye has donated her body to scientific research at the University of Utah. Her dream was to help doctors find a cure for Fibromuscular dysplasia, Von Willebrand disease and Plummer Vinson syndrome. In lieu of a funeral ceremony, the family will be holding an informal memorial gathering on October 25th 2022 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home.
