Darwin Dennis Barfuss

Darwin Dennis Barfuss, our beloved son, brother, dad, and grandpa, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, surrounded by his family in Logan, Utah, at the age of 60.

Darwin was born on August 12, 1965, to Dennis Alvin and Ileen Marie Roberts Barfuss in Logan, Utah. He grew up in Tremonton and graduated from Bear River High School in 1983. He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Florida, Tampa Mission from 1984-1986. He loved being a missionary and continued to share his testimony and gospel knowledge throughout his life.

After his mission, he met Cheryl Ewing, and they were sealed in the Logan Temple on September 1, 1989. Darwin and Cheryl had four children. They were later divorced.

In Darwin’s youth, he loved hunting and fishing, playing sports, and participating in Scouting and church activities.

Throughout Darwin’s life, he enjoyed serving in callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he had the opportunity to share his deep knowledge of the scriptures and his strong testimony of Jesus Christ. His favorite calling was simply being a teacher.

In the last several years, Darwin enjoyed spending time with his family and his dear friend, Dani Hymas. He spent a couple of days a week at the temple and loved being there.

Darwin is survived by his parents, Dennis Alvin and Ileen Marie Roberts Barfuss; his five siblings, Susan (Roy) Yardley, Kathy (Devan) Knight, Betty (Kent) Esplin, Sharon (Lee) Lorimer, and Steven (Danielle) Barfuss; his four children, Andrew Barfuss, Amber (McKensey) Petersen, and the twins, Cody Barfuss and Jared (Stephanie) Barfuss; and five grandchildren, Audrina, Kieran, Jekoby, and Tate Petersen, and Huxley Barfuss.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with a viewing held before from 10:00–11:30 a.m. at the Tremonton 3rd Ward Building (9590 North 6800 West, Tremonton, Utah). The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed below.
