Debra Kay Morgan, age 67, passed away September 7 after a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
She passed in comfort at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton, California, with her husband by her side and relatives talking to her on the phone. She was born on December 17, 1958, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She grew up in Delta, Utah, where she graduated from Delta High School in 1976. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. An active student, she was a cheerleader and a pitcher for the Delta High School softball team. She also took many years of piano lessons and was accomplished in classical music.
A loving mother, Debra loved writing songs and dancing to the "Boot Scootin' Boogie." She enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting trips with her family; singing and playing music around the campfire was a must. She also loved visiting her grandparents in Fayette and hanging out with all her cousins.
Debra worked for several years as an Administrative Assistant at Thiokol and as a Resort Coordinator at Powder Ridge Condominiums at Powder Mountain Ski Resort. Later, she worked alongside her husband, Derek (whom she married in 2012), in their electronic cable business, Morgan Electronics.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lucille Thomas, her son Eric, and her sister Kathy.
She is survived by her husband, Derek Morgan; her children, Mathew Funk, Kelli Funk, McCade, and McKinzi; her brothers, Jimmy Thomas (Hollie) and Scott Thomas (Suzanne); and her sister, Lisa Richardson (Bobby). She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Alex, Ashlynn, Brayden, Broc, Bayley Kay, Cooper, Evan, Kaylee, and Max.
