DeeAnn Rudd

Early on the hot summer morning of July 10, 2026, DeeAnn Wood Rudd passed away peacefully at the age of 89. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, Aunt Annie, neighbor, and friend, who loved life and fought to live until she had given everything she had.

June 21, 1937, the longest day of the year, DeeAnn was born in Garland, Utah, to Ross C. and Cleo Farnsworth Wood. She was the youngest of four children.

Mom attended Fielding Elementary but skipped the 2nd grade because of her advanced reading skills. When she graduated from Bear High School, she was only 15 years old, so she didn’t even have her driver’s license. After high school, she attended USU for one semester.

On September 19, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Norman George Rudd, in the Logan LDS Temple. Mom and Dad enjoyed 53 years together until Dad passed away on October 24, 2008.

Mom and Dad began their life together in Logan, while attending USU. After a few years, they moved back to Fielding where they bought her childhood home and property. Thus, they began their family life where her childhood left off; soon adding six daughters. They worked the family farm side by side, raising cattle, some chickens, goats and grew sugar beets, corn, grain, and hay.

Mom was always a hard worker, a trait she learned from her dad on the farm. At the age of 18, she worked at the Cache County courthouse as the recorder. For 25 years she worked as a secretary for the Bear River Canal Company and finally retiring at the age of 83 after years with Key Bank. In addition to everything else, she served part time as secretary for the Fielding Cemetery for 25 years.

DeeAnn was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a true disciple of Jesus Christ. She was an example of love and service to everyone. She served in many church callings: devoted Visiting Teacher, Primary President, Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, and Stake Primary President. Serving in the scouting program was one of her passions. Just imagine the boy scout leader with six daughters and no sons! She began as a Webelos leader and spent many years as the District Scouting Co-Director with Dad. She earned the Silver Beaver Award and even attended Wood Badge.

Mom loved gardening. She always had a freezer and cellar full of food preserved for the winter. In her last months at Our House, her friend helped her plant and harvest a spring crop of peas. She will sadly miss her fresh green beans that will be ready soon. Mom loved the annual Fielding Fun Days and parade and was recently honored as the parade Grand Marshal. She loved hosting Sunday dinners and family parties, especially her annual Christmas party that always included a visit from Santa. She loved cousin get togethers’ and extended family reunions. She loved Bear River High School sports. Beginning with her own children she attended every sporting event she could and continued her involvement with all the grandkids. As a young mother she played 2nd base on the Fielding Ward softball team.

DeeAnn and Norm had many friends and played pinochle regularly, and always on New Years Eve. After the kids were raised, they loved traveling with their friends, visiting many different places and enjoyed several cruises.

While living her last few years at Our House in Tremonton, Mom made many new friends. Mom loved playing cards and keeping her hands busy making fleece blankets and crafts. She missed her beloved Fielding home but made the best of her new home; still associating as often as possible with her “Fielding People.”

DeeAnn was preceded in death by Norm, her parents, and siblings D.Y. Wood, Harvey Wood, and Carla Risenmay. She is survived by her children: JoLene Bell (Dave), Suzy Lish (Doug), Kelli Rose (former son-in-law Mike Rose), Patti Knudsen (Gordon), Marsha Turner, and Rebecca Hansen. As well as 21 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. We will all miss her annual birthday call and card. A few even got a New Years eve call at midnight.

Although we are saddened by her passing and we will miss her greatly, we are so grateful for the many years we had with Mom. Now, those lucky souls in Heaven get to be served by her. Mom will be remembered for her generous heart, her willingness to serve, and the love she had for her family.

Her greatest joy was her family, and her greatest legacy is the example she leaves for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Funeral services for DeeAnn will be held on FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, 2026, at Noon. Viewings will be held on THURSDAY, AUGUST 6, 2026, from 6-8 P.M. and at the church prior to the funeral service from 10-11:30 A.M. All services will be held at the Fielding Stake Center (4375 W. 15600 N.- Fielding). Interment will follow the services in the Fielding Cemetery.
