Dirk McKay Allred, 59, passed away on October 27, 2026, in Plymouth, Utah, surrounded by the love of those closest to him.
Dirk was born on October 2, 1967, in Tremonton, Utah, to Claud McKay Jr. and RaeJena Allred. He grew up in the Bear River area and graduated from Bear River High School. Throughout his life, he called Bear River City, Fielding, Tremonton, and Plymouth home.
Dirk was a hardworking man who took pride in what he did. He began his working years painting alongside his dad and brother-in-law at Allred Brothers Painting. He later worked at GEM Buildings in steel fabrication before spending the last 15 years of his career at Lundahl Buildings, where he worked as a forklift operator. Dirk was a quiet man by nature, never one to complain, and someone who showed his strength through his hard work and determination.
On February 14, 2015, Dirk married his wife, Shanna, in Fielding, Utah. Together, they shared a love for the outdoors and making memories through life’s adventures. Some of Dirk’s favorite things included camping, riding four-wheelers, hiking, horseback riding, and spending time at camp with Shanna and their dogs. He loved being outdoors and never passed up an opportunity for an adventure. He also had a talent for building just about anything you could dream up. If someone could imagine it, Dirk could usually figure out how to build it.
Dirk will be remembered for his quiet nature, incredible work ethic, and the strength he carried through even life’s hardest moments. He was not someone who needed a lot of words to show who he was. He simply showed up, worked hard, and kept going.
Dirk is survived by his loving wife, Shanna Allred; his children, Ory (Kellie) Allred; his stepchildren, Kristina (Curtis) Enz, Erin (Logan) Hager, Kasten Moser, and Baylee (Elyssa) Moser; and his siblings, Jamie (Rondell) Anderson, Kellie (Gary) Stimpson, Charie Bean, and Krisha (Billy) Peabody.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claud McKay Jr. and RaeJena Allred; his grandparents; and his nephews, Colton and Isaac.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Dan James for generously allowing the family to use his van for many appointments. Special thanks also go to Intermountain Home Health and Hospice for their compassion, kindness, and care throughout this difficult time. The family is also deeply grateful to the entire cancer team at the Gosner Cancer Center for their dedication and for always believing in a miracle, as well as Dr. Schow, Dr. Johnson, and Dr. Bair for everything they did for Dirk and his family.
Dirk will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His life was one of hard work, quiet strength, and a love for the simple adventures that made life meaningful. The memories made along the way will be cherished forever.
