Earl Davenport

August 4, 1933 — September 19, 2022

Earl Ray Davenport, 89, our cherished stepfather and grandpa, passed away on September 19, 2022 in Brigham City, Utah. He was born August 4, 1933 in Brigham City, Utah to Thomas and Celia Ann Davenport.

He married Gloria Geis who passed away in 1994. He married Shanna Summers on August 19, 2000. She passed away on April 10, 2021.

Earl lived in Emigration Canyon in Salt Lake City, Utah; Mesquite, Nevada; St. George, Utah; and Brigham City, Utah. He was a Box Elder High School graduate.

Earl grew up working on his dad’s and grandpa’s farm. He was a supervisor and machinist at Eimco Corporation while owning several businesses in the Salt Lake area. He retired from Eimco Corporation.

Earl served in the US Navy from 1952-1956 and was a veteran of the Korean War. He received the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Earl loved going on gold-hunting expeditions, with his last one in July 2022. He also loved the Uintah Mountains, camping, and fishing. He was part of the Wasatch Front Search and Rescue and has helped countless people in his life. There was nothing Earl couldn’t fix or build and he's famous in the family for his woodwork and ornate lamps. He was always humble and kind and took such good care of his wife and family. He was a kid at heart and chose to be the best stepdad and grandpa his family could have hoped for, and we adore him to this day.

Earl was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he had a strong knowledge of, and belief in God and Jesus Christ.

Earl is survived by his stepchildren, Ryan King, Chett and Kami Robins, and Brandt and Jenny King, and many adored grandchildren; Erica Archibald, Ben & Jackson Robins, McKenna, Colby, & Sydnee King, and McKayla King Bunderson.

He is preceded in death by wife, Shanna; stepdaughter, Kathy; infant son, David; wife, Gloria; sisters, Florence Davenport and  Marie Isaacson; and parents, including step mother, Martha Davenport.
