Earl John Owen, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 2, 2026, in Fielding Utah, after many health challenges.

He was born on January 26, 1947, in Logan Utah, the fourth child to John Owen and Nina Thompson Owen.

His early years were spent in Fielding where he learned the value of hard work by working for Wynn Hansen.

Earl graduated from Bear River High School class of 1965 where he played football. After graduation he worked for the US Forest Service. One year after graduation he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Thailand during the Vietnam Conflict.

After returning home he married his Forever Valentine Randee Richards for time and all eternity on February 14, 1968, in the Logan Utah Temple. They then moved to Kentucky to finish his military assignment. While there he met many people who influenced his life for good. After, they returned to Fielding where he resided till his death. Together they had 4 children.

Earl worked many jobs. He worked for the U&I Sugar Beet Company, Bear River Canal Company and Thiokol (ATK) retiring after 30 plus years.

Earl had a passion for helping people. He was one of the first members and volunteers of the Fielding Fire Department serving as Fire Chief and later became an EMT serving the Fielding community. He also loved serving the youth during his life, he was one of the first little league football coaches in the Bear River Valley, he was a sports referee for many church and community sports leagues and especially loved softball and basketball games.

Earl was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many capacities. He served in 3 Bishoprics and served as a Stake Clerk and executive Secretary and worked with the youth as a PAL Camp Cook and Scout Leader. He and his wife also served as Temple workers in the Brigham City Temple.

Earl loved his country and the flag and taught his family about patriotism at an early age. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, playing church sports, attending and watching Utah State football and basketball games (Go Aggies!) He loved being in the outdoors hunting, camping, fishing, Dutch oven cooking, and taught his family to love the outdoors as well. He also loved reading, playing card and board games, traveling with friends and family and telling a good joke every now and then. But his greatest hobby was creating memories and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a huge supporter of their activities including Bear River High School sports, plays, concerts and various church and community activities

Earl is survived by his wife Randee R Owen and his 4 children. Geneice (Jed) Smith, Fielding; Nancey Owen, Brigham City; Maryann (James) May, Fielding and John (Jamie) Owen, Fielding. One brother Richard (JaDene) Owen, Garland.

Earl was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and each brought him great joy. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Beverly Grill, Judith Deakin and Baby Owen. Grandparents Herman and Annie Thompson, Edward and Mary Estella Bolton Owen.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, at Noon. Viewings will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5-7 P.M. and prior to the service from 10-11:30 A.M. All services will be held at the Fielding Stake Center (4375 W 15600 N- Garland). Interment to take place in the Fielding Cemetery. The funeral services will be livestreamed and can be accessed below.
