Fielding- Edith Owens Udy passed away peacefully at the Bear River Valley Care Center surrounded by her loving family on April 6, 2009. She was born June 21, 1921, in Devil Creek, Idaho, to John Harding Owens and Merella Blanch Jones. She married her “handsome sweetheart” Verl Thomas Udy on May 31, 1940, in Malad, Idaho. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on September 22, 1942. Edith served as President of the YWMIA and as counselor in the Primary and various other callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was active in Fielding Guild Club and served as president. While her children were growing up, she was involved in the Fielding PTA and served as secretary. She completed her cosmetology training in 1963 and owned and operated her own business for 17 years. Edith had a great talent for knitting and crocheting, and many family and friends were recipients of her talents. She was an avid bowler in her younger years, and in later years an enthusiastic Jazz fan. In her spare time she loved to read and do word searches. Edith devoted her time and energy to supporting her husband and children in chariot racing, trading horses, and rodeos. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always ready with an ice cream cone. She will be remembered for loyalty to family and friends, quick wit, and her strength to endure to the end. She is survived by twin sister Ella Apgood, daughters Verlene (Lyle) Watson, Kayla (John) McClellan , sons Owen (Linda Kay), Boyd (Kris), Jess (Georgia), 19 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Verl, granddaughter Patti Jo Watson, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Graveside services will be held on April 9, 2009 at 12 noon at the Fielding Cemetery 5th west and ½ mile north. A viewing will be held on Wednesday April 8, 2009, from 6-8 pm and Thursday April 9, 2009, from 10:30-11:30 am at Rudd Funeral Home 1234 S Main, Garland Ut. Condolences can be made at www.ruddfuneralhome.com. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Bear River Valley Care Center and IHC Hospice for their loving care. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donation to the Care Center.
