Starts at 12:00 pm (Mountain time)
Elna Anderson Haslam Hamilton, 88, of Wellsville, Utah, was born June 3, 1937, to Francis Gunnell Haslam and Elva Anderson. She passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, in her home with family by her side, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion and deep love for her family.
Elna spent most of her life in Wellsville, she met the love of her life, Richard Pearson Hamilton, when he came to work for her brother, Ladell Haslam, who was a rodeo stock contractor. They were married in Ely, Nevada, and later sealed in the Logan Temple for time and all eternity. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and resilience, raising eight children: Dixon, Ginger, Sam, Tim, Teresa, Shaun, Richie and Hollie.
Elna dedicated her life to her family and the rhythms of farm life. She instilled in her children the value of hard work and self-sufficiency. They learned to ride horses, feed and milk cows, raise chickens, plant and farm crops, plant and tend a garden, and harvest what they grew. Her home was one of learning, discipline and love.
In addition to her work at home, Elna was talented and resourceful. She sewed clothing for her daughters, taught 4-H, and developed skills in laying carpet, linoleum, and upholstery. She also worked at a local cheese plant, and shared her knowledge by teaching nutrition and upholstery classes. Elna held many church callings in her life. She ensured her children learned responsibility early, encouraging endeavors such as paper routes, selling greeting cards and Avon. She was skilled in buying, raising and selling horses. She especially loved driving her tractor on the farm.
Elna is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Elva Haslam; her siblings Jay (Connie) Haslam, LaDell (Amarylis) Haslam, Louis Haslam, June (Keith) Spackman; and her beloved husband, Richard Pearson Hamilton.
She is survived by her sister Rula Reese; her special niece Vivian Christensen; and her eight children: Dixon (Marlene) Hamilton, Ginger (Jeff, deceased) Fronk, Sam (Lisa) Hamilton, Tim Hamilton, Teresa (Jeff) Palmer, Shaun (Sheri) Hamilton, Richie (Kristen) Hamilton, and Hollie Jones. She is also survived by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family, all of whom will continue to carry forward her legacy.
Her life was a testament to strength, service, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
We would like to thank Steve and Kristy from Home Health and Hannah and Kellieanne from Hospice for taking such great care of our mom.
