Flora Tanaka

d. June 2, 2017

Flora Kaneko Tanaka, 91, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2017, surrounded by loving family, at Our House Assisted Living Center in Tremonton, Utah.  She was born in 1926 in Centerfield, Utah to Ichimasu and Hana Kaneko.

Flora grew up on a family farm and was the youngest child.   As such, she recalled working hard, going to movies on Saturday and sometimes being talked out of money by her older siblings.  Flora was in a marching group, studied hard and became valedictorian at her high school.  She also was assistant editor of the school paper.

Flora married Ben Tanaka and moved to Tremonton, Utah, and raised five children: Sharon Little of Layton, Utah, Marilyn (Russell) Kemp of Centennial, CO, Larry Tanaka of Tremonton, Archie (Mayumi) of Sandy, and Annette (Joe) Murphy of Corona Del Mar, CA.  She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband Ben.

During her years in Tremonton, Flora loved to garden, ride horses, sew and cook.  She was known valley wide for her delicious Asian cooking and banana cream pies.  Flora also loved giving her 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren treats and money, to their delight.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the personnel at Our House for their unwavering love and care for Flora.

Her viewing will be held Sunday, June 11th from 5 to 7 pm at the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, Utah

Funeral services begin at 11:00 am, Monday June 12th at the Honeyville Buddhist Church, 3945 W 6900 N, Honeyville, Utah.  Prior to the service, a viewing will be held at 9:30 to 10:30 am.
