Gary Feldman

February 28, 1944 — April 25, 2024

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, Gary Feldman, loving husband and father of three children was called to rest at the age of 80.

A resident of Bothwell and formerly of Garland for 44 years, Gary was born on February 28, 1944 in El Paso, Texas to George Feldman and Ruth Kinder. He received a bachelor's degree in Political Science from The University of Texas El Paso (UTEP). On October 2, 1965, he married Marilyn Schafer. In 1977, Gary and Marilyn moved to the Bear River Valley where they raised their three children Lisa, Nathan, and Jonathan. Together Gary and Marilyn managed a small business on Main Street in Tremonton including Montgomery Wards (7 years), Sears (7 years), and Feldman's (28 years). 42 Years on Main Street serving the community.

Gary was very patriotic, with his father being wounded during World War II in the Philippines and his brother serving active duty in Vietnam. During college, Gary completed ROTC training at Fort Sill with a plan to become an officer in the U.S. Army and to serve in Vietnam, but he was honorably discharged for health reasons. After graduating college, Gary took his first job with Sears in Salinas, California where his first responsibilities were labeling catalogs and sweeping the floor. He worked for Sears in California for over 12 years during which time he managed several large catalog store locations as a regional manager. While living in California, Gary enjoyed training his 2 German Shepherds in a variety of competitions. He loved old American cars and could name the model and year of almost any American car made before 1970.

Gary loved people and he believed in contributing as an active member of the community. He served on community programs including the Box Elder county school board, Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis, and later helped to establish and operate the Bothwell Community Park. He also had strong faith and served in many capacities at church.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, his parents, and his brother, Steven Feldman. He is survived by his sister Rebekah Alpisa, and children Lisa, Nathan, and Jonathan, as well as thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
