Garland

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and sister, GayNell Rose passed away peacefully at the age of 83, August 1, 2025. We will hold onto the memories we all have with her, and cherish each and every one of them, until we meet again.

GayNell was born on February 23, 1942, to Ivan Halliday and Mary Asenath Archibald in Tremonton, Utah. She grew up in Plymouth, Utah with four wonderful sisters, Edna (Hess), Ila (Hess), Diane (Ball) and Dixie (Donofrio). Her childhood memories include hopscotch, marbles, jump rope, driving the car over the thrill bumps above Plymouth and of course Udy Hot Springs.

GayNell married Tommy Keith Rose on August 11, 1961 and was sealed together in the Logan Temple on January 30, 1976. They had four children, Michael Tommy, Russell Ivan, Blake Keith, and Kristy Jo. Some of her favorite activities included playing softball, bowling, throwing horseshoes, camping and fishing at Flaming Gorge, Henry’s Lake, Salmon river, and supporting her grandkids in all of their activites. GayNell loved to have family breakfast on Christmas morning and watch her family hunt for the golden easter egg she hid so well on Easter.

GayNell was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had many church callings throughout her life, but the one she cherished the most was teaching young children about Christ in Primary.

Gaynell leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by her children, Mike (Cris), Blake, and Kristy (Dustin) as well as 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind two of her sisters, Diane Ball and Dixie Donofrio. All of us have been blessed for having her in our lives, and cannot wait till we meet again.

She was greeted with loving open arms by her mom and dad, Ivan and Asenath Archibald, her husband Tommy Keith Rose, her son Russell Ivan Rose, two of her loving sisters Edna Hess and Ila Hess. In addition to her immediate family, other family and friends undoubtably welcomed her home. Her Savior withopen arms telling her, “Well done Gaynell”.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all those who cared for and served our mom. Special thanks to the Bear River Valley Hospital, the Bear River Valley Medical Group, Intermountain Homecare and Layton Hospital for the wonderful care to mom. And most of all thanks to the many friends and family who gave freely of their time to provide love, care and support.
