Glenn Alvin Smith, age 94, died on September 30, 2026. He passed peacefully at the Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton, Utah, surrounded by family.
Born May 29, 1932, in Brigham City, Utah, to William Waldamer Smith and Edith Nellie Jordan, Glenn was the third of four children. After graduating from Box Elder High School, he attended Utah State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry and a Master of Elementary Supervision. He married his sweetheart, Marilyn Emily Fawson, on December 22, 1961, in the St. George Temple. Together, they raised four children, building their family life on their testimonies and faith in Jesus Christ and His gospel.
Glenn was a beloved teacher, educator, and principal who worked for 30 years in various schools in Box Elder County. He was a skilled carpenter and craftsman whose primary work was restoring his family farm alongside his wife and children. Following in the traditions of the W. W. Smith family, he was a lifelong gardener, farmer, and cattleman and passed this knowledge along to his children and grandchildren. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark, leading to a lifetime of service in many ward and stake callings including a mission with his wife in the New York Rochester Mission.
Glenn personified warm individualized attention to everyone he encountered. He was masterful at noticing and remembering others, which led, to many lifelong friendships and relationships. As a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Glenn was a careful, attentive, and patient teacher, working with his wife, to pass along knowledge and skills to their posterity. Above all, Glenn’s care and attention to his wife displayed his character. He provided love, comfort, and companionship. He was the ideal partner and always a gentleman.
Glenn is survived by his wife Marilyn and their four children, Daniel (Angela) Smith, Emily Ann (Blaine) Jolley, Theodore “Ted” (Wendy) Smith and Esther (Kenneth) McHenry, 21 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents William Waldamer Smith and Edith Nellie Jordan, sister Donna Smith Packer, brothers Robert William Smith and Ronald Julius Smith and grandson John Charles Smith.
