Obituary

Gloria Bourne Hunter passed away May 26, 2026, after a brief and courageous battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

Gloria was the youngest of six, born on May 3rd, 1962, to John A and Roma Jean Bourne. She was raised on her family's farm in West Fielding Utah and later moved to East Garland. She enjoyed learning and was a graduate of Bear River High School, class of 1980. She went on to graduate from LDS Business College.

Gloria married Andrew Hunter of Wellsville, Utah, in June of 1981. They divorced in 2020.

She was incredibly devoted to her three children, Shanna, Kristin, and Justin. Her favorite part of life was being a grandma. She rarely missed any event her kids or grandkids were involved in. About the only reason she ever missed an event was because she couldn’t attend two at once.

Gloria worked hard and enjoyed seeing a job well done. She worked in payroll and human resources at La-Z-Boy for many years. She knew everyone and made many friends and memories during her time there. She was one of the last employees to leave when the plant closed.

After La-Z-Boy, Gloria spent several years working for Farm Bureau Insurance and at Riverside Corner in the evenings. She loved the social aspects of those jobs.

At the time of her diagnosis, Gloria was working at West Liberty Foods as the Payroll Specialist, where she was deeply loved. It always brightened her day when co-workers stopped to visit during her illness.

Gloria loved being busy, she could never just sit. She enjoyed cross-stitch, crocheting, gardening, and traveling. She made something for just about every special occasion to give to a friend or a family member and she was the best road trip buddy.

Gloria was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints one day before her 8th birthday. She had a special love for the temple and spent time there often. Of the callings she held, some of her favorites were Ward Missionary, Young Women Sports Director, Nursery Leader, and teaching Temple Prep.

Gloria is survived by her children, Shanna (Scott) Sperry, Kristin (Michael) Anderson, and Justin (Paige) Hunter, her grandchildren Ethan and Nixon Sperry, Crieger and Rutledge Anderson, Ledger Hatfield, and Piper Hunter. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Sandy (Bob) Orme, Brenda Godfrey, Alan (Doylene) Bourne, Kevin (Jill) Bourne, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John A and Roma Bourne, her brother, Nolan Bourne, and her brother-in-law, Alan Godfrey.
