Gloria Jean Maxwell Morgan passed away 25 September 2025. Gloria grew up in Morgan City, Utah.
She learned to play both the piano and organ as a teenager. Her entire life was dedicated to music!
Also, as a teenager she was the ward organist in Morgan, Utah and sang in a group of girls called the Speckets. They were called the Speckets because they all wore glasses.
After graduation in 1961 she went to work for Fidelity Insurance in Ogden, Utah.
She married her eternal partner, Curtis Morgan, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on 2 August 1963. In 1964, they had a daughter, Hayley, who arrived to join their family. Then, in 1967, they were blessed with a boy that they named David Curtis.
In 1968 they moved, for work purposes, to Ypsilanti, Michigan where she had the opportunity to serve as Sunday School Coordinator, both Primary and Relief Society President in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also was the ward organist there and taught piano lessons.
Another blessing came to the family in 1970. It was a girl they named Terrilyn. By 1976, they were homesick for family and the mountains and moved back to Snowville, Utah to pursue Curtis' passion, which was FARMING! They built a home, which Gloria drew the floor plans, for them to build. She was talented in so many ways.
Katie Jean came to join the family in 1981. Then they were blessed again in 1982 with the arrival of Lacey.
Gloria always shared her music talent in so many ways. She was Choir Director, Music Committee Chairman in both the Ward and Stake and ward organist in Snowville for 30 plus years.
She helped with numerous church activities. Do you remember the Road Shows? She was part of creating them and putting them together. She also had a part in creating the talent shows and the Gold and Green Balls put on in the wards.
Gloria served as Curlew Ward Relief Society President, TWICE. (That makes 3 times she served in that calling) and she was very proud of doing that! She had callings in the Young Women's and Other Relief Society positions. She loved being a visiting teacher. She totally enjoyed being a Logan Temple Officiator for four yrs!
She worked as the Clerk/Treasurer for the Snowville Town for 19 yrs and taught piano lessons to many in the community. She wrote poems, wrote music, and even transposed pieces of music. So talented!
Gloria loved playing the keyboard and singing in the band called" West Desert Trio" with Brent Stokes and Dennis Poulson for 15 yrs. They always provided good music for many church and community activities.
I just have to mention that she was such a sweet person. She NEVER said a swear word or ever said anything negative or complained about anything or anybody. She was quite an example!
Her life was all about music and music was very important to her.
She is survived by Curtis Morgan (husband), Hayley and (Dave) Richards, David Curtis and (Diane) Morgan, Terrilyn and (Tracy) Atkinson, Katie and (Josh) Woodhouse, Lacey and (Dave) Del Valle. She had 18 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. Her mother, father, and two brothers preceded her in death.
As a family we want to say thank you to everyone who has supported our mom and dad. Whether it was through food, visits, friendship or prayers. We truly appreciate it!
