Gregory L Ramsdell

August 27, 1957 — August 2, 2023

Gregory L. Ramsdell was born on August 27, 1957 to Ted L. Ramsdell and Marlene Jensen Ramsdell in Idaho Falls, Idaho. At three years old Ted moved his family to Blackfoot where Greg attended school and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1976. After graduation, Greg enrolled at Utah State University to major in Ag Economics where he excelled in the “College Life.”

On Christmas break, he met Annie Roberts. Greg returned to college, but said he couldn’t stop thinking about a “little blonde girl” back home that changed everything. Annie took one look at Greg’s blue eyes and it was Love at First Sight.

Greg worked for Dwain Stufflebeam, Western Farm Service, and later joined the family at D&D Trucking.

July 20, 1979 Greg and Annie were married. They had just celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. Kate was born in May 1985 and Hadley joined them in August 1992. Greg was building their home at the time Hadley was born. Later on Greg was blessed with three grandchildren, and shared many mischievous grins and antics with them.

Greg loved to fly fish and had a special talent for tying flies that were better than those bought at fly shops. Watching Greg shadow casting on a river was something to behold, as he would set a fly anywhere he wanted. He loved to ski when he was younger and one of his favorite gifts he received at Christmas was his first pair of skis. An avid outdoorsman, Greg would hunt with his dad, little brother Matt and many friends. He loved camping whether it was up the Grey’s River, Big Elk Creek, or in the backyard with his kids and grandkids.

Music was special to Greg, which led to his collections of records, CD’s, DVD’s and tapes. Later on, Greg picked up playing the guitar. He took up silver smithing where he made bits and spurs for Annie and himself and a set of buckles and conchos for his team roping saddle.

An outgoing personality, a quick wit allowed Greg to make many lifelong friends. With his huge heart and compassion, he was always there for anyone that needed help or just a kind word.

Greg was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

On August 2, Greg passed away surrounded by his family. Our hope is he has found his favorite spot on a river and able to go for a bike ride with Nicholas.

Greg is survived by his wife, Annie; children, Kate and Hadley; grandkids, Kloie, Boden, and Kacie Mai; hs loving mother, Marlene Ramsdell; brother, Matthew (Tracy); nieces and nephews and his many lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Ted; brothers, Nicholas, Derk, and Baby Boy Ramsdell; and his in-laws, Doyle and Maxine Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that you write down and share a funny story a memory that you had with Greg so they may be cherished and remembered always.
