Hazel Riser

December 6, 1917 — November 26, 2015

GARLAND – Hazel Grover Riser, 97, passed away on November 26, 2015 at the Bear River Care Center in Tremonton, UT.  She was born on December 6, 1917 in East Garland, UT to Lafayette and Ellen Parkinson Grover.

Hazel attended elementary school in the Bear River valley and graduated from Bear River High School. She worked at Gephart’s Store, JC Penney and worked for 29 years in the school lunch program.

On July 19, 1933, Hazel married the love of her life, Martin Riser, in Malad, ID. He passed away in 2002.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in many capacities. She was the ward organist for 70 years, she taught primary, mutual and Sunday school.

Hazel is survived by her son, Brent (DeeLou) Riser; 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 37 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Lafe Grover; mother, Ellen Grover; husband, Martin “Salt” Riser; and sons, Dennis Riser & Lynn Riser.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fielding Stake Center (4375 W. 15600 N.- Fielding, UT) with a viewing prior to the funeral from 9-10:30 a.m.  Burial will follow the services in the East Garland Cemetery.
