It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend, Ila Jean Smith "Beaner". On July 23, 2026, at the young age of 69, Mom peacefully left this earthly life and reunited with her eternal companion, surrounded by her loving family after complications from a stroke.

Mom was born on October 18, 1956, in Price, Utah, to Darrel and Helen Louise Price. She was raised in the small town of Clawson, Utah, alongside her three brothers and one sister. At just 16 years old, she married the love of her life, Randy Lamond Smith, on September 7, 1973. Together they began their journey in Twentynine Palms, California, where Dad was serving in the United States Marine Corps. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Utah Temple.

For 43 wonderful years, Mom and Dad were inseparable until Dad's passing in 2016. Together they built a beautiful life in Ferron, Nephi, Fairview, and Vernal, making lifelong friendships everywhere they lived. During the past ten years, Mom made her home in Fielding, Utah, where everyone who walked through her door was welcomed with love, laughter, and something good to eat.

Although Mom and Dad accomplished many things together, they would both agree that their greatest accomplishment was their five children.

Mom had a remarkable gift for making life magical. Christmases, birthdays, and holidays at the Smith home were unforgettable. She adored decorating, and every Christmas the house was transformed into a masterpiece. Our childhood was filled with camping trips to the San Rafael Desert, endless adventures, laughter, and memories that will last forever.

Mom had the funniest personality. She taught us silly songs, was always telling jokes, and could make anyone laugh. Even during her final days, she was joking with the doctors and nurses, bringing smiles to those caring for her. She had a way of making every person feel like family. No one ever left her home hungry, and no one ever left without a treat.

Throughout her life, Mom worked many jobs, including caring for residents at a nursing home and working in fast food. Her favorite, however, was her time at Lotsa Motsa Pizza in Nephi, where she proudly earned the nickname "Mean Jean, the Pizza Queen." The nickname wasn't because she was ever mean—it was simply the playful teasing from the pizza crew she loved so much. Those coworkers became family, and over the years Mom collected countless "adopted kids." Our friends quickly became her friends, and she loved them as if they were her own.

Without question, Mom's greatest calling was being a grandma. Known lovingly as "Grandma Beaner," she shared a unique and special bond with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the fun grandma—the one who always had candy, Pepsi, and treats waiting. She believed there was no such thing as too many people gathered together. "The more, the merrier" wasn't just something she said—it was how she lived. Her home was always full of family, laughter, and unconditional love.

One of Mom's greatest acts of love came through her decision to become an organ donor. Even in passing, she chose to give the gift of life to others—a final expression of the selflessness, generosity, and compassion that defined the way she lived every day. Her legacy will continue not only through the family she loved so deeply but also through the lives forever changed by her incredible gift.

Mom is survived by her five children: Kari (Josh) Smith-Fillingim of Myton, Utah; Cheryl (Josh) Swapp of Fairview, Utah; Heather (Jason) Westring of Nephi, Utah; Ryan (Desilee) Smith of Plymouth, Utah; and Lacey (Randy) Hansen of Fielding, Utah.

She also leaves behind the treasures of her life—19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.

She is survived by her brothers, Bob (Doris) Price of Ferron, Utah; Gary (Shaunnie) Price of Clawson, Utah; and Stephen (Heidi) Price of Clawson, Utah; her sister, Kim (Wade) Rileyof Clawson, UT; her sister-in-law, Becky (Keith) Sawayaof Delta, UT; and many nieces and nephews who will forever treasure their beloved Aunt Beaner. She was welcomed into the loving arms of her eternal companion, Randy, her parents, Darrel and Louise Price, her in-laws, Lamond and Nellie Smith and a sister-in-law Linda Smith.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Mom is once again with the love of her life. Her kindness, laughter, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family have left a legacy that will live on in each of us. We will miss her every day, but we know Heaven became a little brighter the moment she walked through its gates.

Funeral services will be held at the Ferron LDS church (35 W. 200 N.- Ferron, UT) on Friday, July 31st at 12:00 PM.

 Friday, July 31st from 10:30-11:45 a.m., at Ferron LDS church (35 W 200 N. Ferron, UT)
