Janette Sachie (Moriyama) Petersen

March 1, 1950 — October 24, 2025

Tremonton

Janette Sachie Moriyama Petersen was born on March 1, 1950, in Brigham City, Utah to Shigeki and Mary Yoshiko Sato Moriyama. She thought it would have been cool to have been born on Leap Year but her parents chose March 1st, (It wasn't Leap Year anyway). She was the oldest of two other siblings, a brother, Joel and sister, Joni. They grew up as normal kids in Tremonton. Her grade school friends invited her to attend Primary and when they were being baptized, she decided that she wanted to do so, also. The Stake Missionaries were sent to her parents to teach them about the Church that she would be joining and they were baptized nine months later. They were sealed as an eternal family in the Logan LDS Temple a year later.

Jan loved animals - especially her horse, Sultan, part quarter horse and part Arabian. He was her Best Friend! Besides the assortment of dogs and cats, birds and whatever else the kids brought home. She loved camping and fishing - especially with the family. She liked making quilts, knitting and crocheting.

Jan graduated from Bear River High School in 1968, married, and was blessed with a daughter, Cori Dawn - the cutest baby girl ever born! Shortly after, divorced, then married Jimmy Petersen. They were blessed with three rambunctious boys who kept their lives busy. They were sealed in the Ogden Utah Temple in 1976.

She and Jim served in the Logan Temple as officiators, then served a full-time mission in the Arizona Tucson Mission after he retired. They also served in the Brigham City Temple, the Ogden Family Search Library and facilitators for the Addiction Recovery Program. They especially appreciate all the friendships made in each of their callings.

Preceded in death were: son, Brooks; mother, Mary and father Shigeki Moriyama; three grandchildren - Braeden, Ally and Gabe. Surviving are husband, Jimmy; daughter, Cori-Dawn Petersen (John Hill); son, Shannon James Petersen; son, Trevor Blake Petersen (Olya); daughters-in-law Amy Nishikawa and Jenney Tenney; 11 grandchildren 6 great-grandchildren.
