Jeaneen Coombs, at the age of 92, passed away on September 8, 2026, in Hyrum, Utah. Born on December 8, 1933, in Burley, Idaho, she was the daughter of Walter and Gladys Hill.
Jeaneen married Mark Durfee on March 25, 1953. They had four daughters and one son. They later divorced. On January 14, 2005, she married Ray Coombs in Quartzsite, Arizona. They shared a beautiful union until Ray's passing on May 10, 2025.
Jeaneen's journey took her through Burley & Malta, Idaho and Cache Valley Utah. Her education began at Malta Elementary School, continuing through Raft River High School. A dedicated entrepreneur, Jeaneen owned and operated several cafés, and in her later years, she contributed to the Filer School District Lunch program for ten years.
Her culinary skills were celebrated, earning her accolades in pie baking contests. Known especially for her delightful pies, she was also a talented cake decorator, crafting wedding cakes for loved ones. Jeaneen’s passion for music and dance shone brightly through her love for tap dancing, often performing with a ladies’ group, Top Hat Tappers. She also enjoyed painting, crocheting and playing softball.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous roles, particularly cherishing her time teaching primary. She carried out two missions, serving at Provo Utah, Cove Fort Mission and Liberty Jail in Liberty, Missouri.
Jeaneen leaves behind her sister Annette (Mike) Corey, her son-in-law Rod Arbon, daughters Betty Jo (Carl) Spencer, Bonnie (Bob) Templeman, and Penny (Evan) Bankhead, along with her many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, children Mark Jr Durfee and Connie Arbon, and siblings Jack, Don, and Kay Hill.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11 A.M., with a viewing from 9-10:30 A.M., at the Malta Church. She will be laid to rest at Valley Vu Cemetery in Malta, Idaho.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Blacksmith Fork Assisted Living and Ascend Hospice for their compassionate care.
