Jeanine Gibbs

Portage- Jeanine Wright Gibbs, 86, passed away at her home on November 13, 2018 in Portage, Utah. She was born on October 9, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Whitney Bert & Emily Marguerite Nelson Wright.

Jeanine was raised in Salt Lake City, where she attended and graduated from West High School. She married the love of her life, Lorin LaDell Gibbs on June 24, 1955 in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Portage, Utah, on their family farm. LaDell preceded her in death on December 21, 1996.

Jeanine was very active in the Portage community, serving as the Secretary/ Treasurer for the Portage Cemetery District for 42 years. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings both in the ward and stake levels. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Her greatest accomplishment was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She is the oldest sister to Wanda, Donna, Boyd, and Helen.

Jeanine is survived by her children: Kim (deceased) Diane Gibbs, Julie (Sherm) Richins, Debra Gibbs, Randy Gibbs, Blake (Kimber) Gibbs, Todd (Cindy) Gibbs, Carrie (Chris) John, and Alysia Gibbs (Brian Lowery); and many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she dearly loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Kim; daughter-in-law, Loraine Gibbs; granddaughter, Alison Gibbs; and sister, Donna Wells.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Portage Chapel (8910 W. 25800 N.). Viewings will be held on Sunday evening, November 18, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E.) and prior to the funeral service at the Portage Church on Monday from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Interment in the Portage Cemetery.
