Jeanne Jenson, age 77, passed away on January 5, 2024, in Brigham City, Utah. She was born September 14, 1946, in Heber, Utah to Audie M. Runnels and Helen D. Farrer.
She married LaVern Jenson on June 15, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Throughout her life Jeanne lived in Promontory, Utah and Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Altamont High School.
Jeanne was a rancher, homemaker, an excellent seamstress, and she did a lot of canning.
She loved quilting, fishing, horseback riding, and feeding hummingbirds. She loved plants and had a jungle for a living room. Jeanne came up with her own type of guppie called a fancy red fantail that is all over the worldwide fish trade. She would herd cows with a red truck 60 mph across the desert with Vern on a horse and grandkids in the back. Every night she would listen to Art Bell on the radio with the grandkids and before that Mystery Science Theater with her kids, Chris & Shelley. She kept a 22 pistol in the kitchen window so she could shoot the ducks out of the haystack. She would use a battery powered spotlight on horseback to spotlight the wildlife on the ranch with her grandkids, as well.
Jeanne loved her grandkids and taught them about finding arrowheads, looking for fossils and bones and taking them for walks. She taught them about the native birds, catching lizards, and sewing. They called her Jeanie bug because she was always catching and collecting bugs. She was involved in 4-H with our horses.
Jeanne is survived by her husband LaVern Jenson of Promontory, Utah; children Chris and (Mary Jo) Jenson of Promontory, Utah, Shelley and (Buck) Taylor of Vernal, Utah; grandchildren Brian Jenson, Chelsea Escalante and 19 great grandchildren, Cathy J. Runnels sister.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jay Dee Runnels and James Craig Runnels, and sister Mary Runnels.
