Born on September 12, 1958, Johnny peacefully passed away on August 30, 2025, in Brigham City, Utah. He was the cherished son of Milton Leon and Carolyn Mae Evans Roche and the second of nine children in a large and loving family. He shared his life with siblings Bryon, Julie, Bobby, Mary, D.D., Shirley, Tresa, and Heidi.
Johnny graduated from Bear River High School in 1976, where he was active in FFA and rodeo. Drawing from his family’s heritage, he embodied the values of hard work, family, and friendship. He was blessed with three beautiful children—JR, Madalyn, and Tanner—whom he undoubtedly cherished. They were his greatest joy. In July of 2024, he was further blessed with his first grandson, Silo.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Johnny found comfort in his faith. He farmed alongside his father and brother Bob but also had a great passion for adventure—whether on the water, in the snow, or rodeo . He truly enjoyed life to its fullest… and then some! “What a beautiful thing!” he would say.
In his younger years, Johnny spent many winters in Sun Valley, Idaho, skiing and driving cab, always with the understanding that he would not be back home until April 15th, when the skiing season ended! While working on the family farm, he also took great pride in driving his school bus route and transporting students to sporting events. Later, his career path led him to long-haul truck driving, where he proudly drove for Stokes Trucking for many years. He often spoke of the strong “brotherhood” he found among his fellow drivers.
During the last 13 months of his life, Johnny was lovingly cared for at Beehive Home, where the staff welcomed and loved him to the end.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bryon Roche; his niece, Jessica Stokes; and his brothers-in-law, Arthur Cervantez and Shawn Miller.
