Joseph Monroe Noble passed away quietly in his home April 3, 2026. He was one week away from turning 92. Born in Wendell, Idaho to Lucille Amanda Hansen, and Monroe Clarence Noble Jr., and grew up in Walla Walla, Washington.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Great Lakes Mission. Following his mission he served in the Army for two years in Chicago. This is where he met Barbara Johnson. They were soon married in the Salt Lake temple.
He worked hard throughout his life, never being able to sit still. For the majority of his career he worked for Western, and Delta Airlines.
He influenced the lives of countless young men through his many years of service in the Scouting program. He loved scouting and even earned the Silver Beaver award. He loved the Gospel and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served faithfully in many callings.
Joe was one to always make friends wherever he happened to be. You could be anywhere in the world, and you could find someone who knew him and had a story to tell about him. He was incredibly outgoing, and had a serving heart, always willing to freely give of his time and talents to others.
It didn’t matter how tired he was, he always made time to take care of his family, instilling self-reliance and service in his children.
He lost his eternal companion Barbara in 2005. He met Helen Mecham in Arizona, and they were later married. For the past 20 years she has been a great blessing in his life. We are grateful to Helen’s family for welcoming Joe into their lives with open arms.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara, his daughter Joanne, his grandson Alex, son-in-law Gerald, and great-great granddaughter Hana Kate Burt.
He is survived by his wife Helen, his son Dave and Gail Noble, his son Mike and Annette Noble, Helen’s children Barbara Spell, Jolyn and Bobbi Richardson, Nancy and Vaughn Johnson, and Marilyn Cooper (Gerald); 20 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 2 ½ great-great grandchildren.
