Katie Rebecca Smith Nelson, age 33, passed away on August 9, 2026, at her home in Beaver Dam, Utah. Born on December 5, 1992, in Ogden, Utah, she was the daughter of Slade Malin Smith and Clara Ann Montez Smith.
Katie married Ryan Melvern Nelson on August 17, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they shared a life filled with love and joy. Her academic journey led her to graduate from Box Elder High School in 2011, followed by earning her Associate Degree from Utah State University in 2016.
Katie's career with the United States Post Office was marked by dedication and service. She had a profound love for her family and cherished moments spent with them, whether exploring the outdoors, riding side by sides, enjoying gatherings by the firepit, or planning trips to Vegas. In her youth, she found joy in playing soccer and spending time with her two brothers, Kenneth and Steven.
Katie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Katie is survived by her husband Ryan and their children, Kenzley Clair Reber, Zaydn Darryl Nelson, Aria Ann Nelson, and Racyn John Nelson. She leaves behind her parents, Slade and Clara Smith; her grandmother, Rebecca Smith; uncle Steve and Marilyn Smith; brothers Kenneth Lawrence Smith and Steven Slade (Karina) Smith; mother-in-law Rebecca (Glade) Barrett; sister-in-law Lindsey Nelson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Katie is preceded in death by her grandfather, Steven Lawrence Smith; grandfather and grandmother Alfred and Vivian Montez; father-in-law, Darryl Nelson; sister-in-law, Chelsey Izatt; and cousin, Tommy Angel Montez.
Viewings will be held at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N 100 E- Tremonton) on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 5–7 P.M., and on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 9:30–10:30 A.M. The dedication of the grave will follow at approximately 11 A.M. at the Mendon Cemetery (25 N 200 W- Mendon).
Katie's warmth, love, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
