Kay Lynn Ratcliffe Schick, aged 62, peacefully passed away on September 12, 2025, in Elwood Utah after courageously fighting with many health issues. She was born on August 11, 1963, in Ogden, Utah, to Ronald and Marilyn Ratcliffe.
On December 15, 1990, Kay Lynn united in marriage with Jeff Schick in Ogden, Utah, sharing a life filled with love and cherished memories. Throughout her life, she lived in various communities including Ogden, Uintah, Kaysville, and Elwood, Utah.
Kay Lynn was dedicated to her education, completing her studies at Bonneville High School, followed by earning a Bachelor of Education from Weber State University in 1990, and a Master of Education from Utah State University in 2006. She devoted her career to teaching in elementary schools, handling 1st and 2nd grades at Westland Elementary in West Jordan from 1990 to 2000, and at Kaysville Elementary from 2000 to 2006. During her teaching career, she positively impacted the lives of many children. Afterward, she served as a school technology specialist for the Davis County School District from 2006 until her retirement in 2019.
In her free time, Kay Lynn cherished moments spent with her family. Her passions included cross-stitching, tole painting, crocheting, music, and reading. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in numerous callings such as Stake Primary, Primary chorister, Primary teacher, and Young Women’s leader.
Kay Lynn is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Schick; her children, David (Whitney) Schick and Sierra Schick; her mother-in-law, Karren Schick; and her siblings, Teresa (Brandt) Peterson, Mike (Lori) Ratcliffe, Heather (Todd) Johnson, and Josh (Beth) Ratcliffe; in-laws Scott (Kjerstin) Schick, Daranee (Schick) and Dusty Berg, Alison Schick and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ron and Marilyn Ratcliffe; her sister, Laurie Rampton; and her father-in-law, Seth Schick.
A memorial service to celebrate Kay Lynn's life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11 A.M., with a visitation from 9-10:45 A.M. All services will take place at the Elwood 3rd Ward Church (4865 W 9600 N- Elwood). The service will also be livestreamed and can be accessed below.
Her spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
