If you are reading this, it’s not been a good day for me. I passed away peacefully in my sleep on Sunday, September 8th, 2024 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
I am the 5th out of 6 children born to Carl & Nola Starr. As a young child I loved all things outdoors. I became an eagle scout, and held the Aaronic Priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a young man I worked for my father at the Sugar Factory in Garland UT. as a sugar spinner where I had to quit because they found out I wasn’t quite of age. At that time my interests turned to bull riding (what a rush that was) I graduated in 1972 and went on to enlist in the U.S. Army where I served 21 ½ years and retired Sergeant Major.
I married the love of my life Laurie J. Warsop Starr on May 31st, 1975. Together we had two amazing children: Jessica Ann Starr (August 23,1975 – March 30,1994) and Ryan John Starr (September 26, 1978). In 1991 I retired from the military, came back to Utah, and made Plymouth our forever home. I worked at Morton for a few years and went on to work at Lowes from 2005-2013. I was blessed to have 3 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild, and boy did they make me happy. I really enjoyed building things, updating my home, and traveling.
I lived my life fully and with no regrets. To my wife- Thank you for 49 wonderful years of marriage. To my son- I'm proud of you, boy. You are an amazingly hard worker. To my grandkids- Thank you for filling this old heart of mine with so much love.
