Mae Wheatley

March 12, 1926 — June 21, 2018

Mae Richardson Wheatley, 92 was taken home to her Heavenly Father on 21 June 2018.  She was born 12 Mar 1926 in Ogden Utah to Oscar Child & Mary Irene Richardson.  She was the 7th of 8 children and was a twin, (the oldest) of Helen Richardson Peterson. She was sealed to her parents in the Logan Temple on 28 May 1986.  Her siblings were Roy, Glenn, Arch, Clifford, Evelyn, Gladys, & Helen.  Mom loved her siblings and missed them very much.  She spent many hours with her dad with the sheep.  She married Lynn T Wheatley on 12 Sept 1942 in Malad Idaho.  They were sealed in the Logan temple on 17 May 1989.  There were born to this union 3 daughters, Mary Lyn (Lehn) Brangham, Pauline (Clark) Butler, Carmen (Bob) Hyde.  She has 6 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren & 12 Great Great Grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband on 9 Dec 1993, her parents and all her siblings, her youngest daughter in 2008, and one great granddaughter Courtney Davis.  They are having a great reunion in heaven.  Mom loved all her nieces and nephews and loved to have visits from them.

She was born in Ogden Utah but was raised in the Tremonton area and for a year before she married in Brigham City.  She attended Bear River High School where she was secretary of her Freshman class.  She & Lynn lived in many places in Utah, Idaho, Montana & Nevala.  Lynn ranched and farmed for many employers and together they did the work.  Mom liked to work outside much more that inside and she worked alongside her husband working the cattle and the fields most of their working life.  She was an excellent cook and did the cooking for the men who came and helped throughout the year.  She was also an excellent house keeper.   They finally retired in Albion, Id where dad did odd jobs and worked for Dr Clark helping with the colts.  After Lynn died she moved in with her sister in Deweyville for a while then moved to Brigham City in a small apartment until she moved again to Deweyville to live with her daughter in 2011.  She moved to the Mission @ Bear River in 2012 where she stayed until her daughter came home from her mission and moved again to Deweyville for 18 months before going again into the nursing home where she stayed until her passing.

Mom loved horses, she loved to ride and compete in Queen contests.  She was Queen of the Box Elder Co Fair & Rodeo when she was 14, she showed in halter and under saddle for several years, teaching her children to do the same, especially her oldest MaryLyn.  Horses were a big part of her life and she had one until she left Albion.  When they lived in Grace she had a group of young people on horses doing square dancing and they performed at rodeos and had a great time.  She was also a leader in the 4H teaching about horses and took her class on trail rides.

Mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-saints.  She had many jobs in the church and served well.  She loved to keep busy and knew the church was true.  She preached the gospel to her neighbors. Mom loved baseball and could spend hours in from the the TV watching baseball.  In her youth she played softball and was very good at it.

When mom lived in Bancroft she started back to school to become a nurse.  She finished her schooling when they lived in Grace and became a nurse at the Soda Springs Hospital.  She later worked at the nursing home in Burley.  She was very proud of being a nurse and it was hard for her in her later years to go back to school but she finished.

We want to thank everyone at Mission Bear River for their loving care of our mother and for all the visits and loving care from the Deweyville Ward.  Mom loved you all, even if she always wanted to go home.  Her funeral will be on 26 June 2018 @ the Deweyville Ward, 10750 N Hwy 38, Deweyville, Ut @ 12pm.  A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:45 before the service.  Interment will be in the Deweyville Cemetery.
