Marilyn Barnes Broersma

Marilyn Barbara (Jensen Barnes) Broersma, 84, passed away on February 6, 2016 at Maple Springs in Brigham City, Utah. She was born on July 27, 1931 in Los Angeles, California to Alice Ann Peterson & Oge Bernhardt Jensen. When Marilyn was 7 they moved to Thatcher, Utah. On August 5, 1949 she married Ralph Darrell Barnes in the Logan LDS Temple. Ralph passed away on November 19, 1982. She then married Fred Broersma on December 27, 1985.

Marilyn worked at Cowley’s and Falk’s department stores for 29 years. She also worked at Thiokol in the food service department.

She loved working in her yard, planting flowers and shrubs. She was an excellent cook and especially loved to make her home a comfortable place. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Fred Broersma; Sister, Sharon (David) Boss; Children, Susan (Neal) Johnson of Bartlesville, OK & Ross Barnes of Tremonton; Stepchildren, Donna (Alex) Fogel of Bradenton, Florida, James (Dorthy) Broersma of Brigham City and Eugene Broersma of Tulare, California; 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Ralph Darrel Barnes; Brother, Gary Lee Jensen and Daughter-in-law, Becki Barnes.

A viewing will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E., Tremonton) from 6-7:30 p.m. A private family service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday February 13, 2016. Interment in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Primrose Hospice Care, Maple Springs Assisted Living, her neighbors and church family.
