Martha (Marti) Ellane Bingham

June 29, 1944 — November 22, 2025

Garland

Martha (Marti) Ellane Bingham was welcomed home to the outstretched arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 22, 2025. We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with Dad and no doubt enjoying dinner with him once again.

Marti was born in Enid, Oklahoma, to William Nye and Verda Maxine Smith. She spent her childhood in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Salt Lake City, Utah, where she developed a deep love for the outdoors. Camping, hunting, fishing, and raising animals filled her early years, instilling in her a lifelong appreciation and love for nature. She also cherished studying the history of the American Indians and the Old West. Summers with her grandparents in Seattle were especially treasured, where she delighted in playing in the ocean and digging clams along the shore.

Marti first married Edward Eugene Pearmain, and together they welcomed four children: Edward Troy, Jodi Lyn, Scott William and Angela Michelle (Shelly). Though their marriage ended, Marti’s devotion to her children never wavered. On August 15, 1975, she married Ivan Farley Bingham in Elko, Nevada. Ivan brought with him three daughters—Geri Ann, Julie Ann, and Camila—expanding the family to seven children. Feeling their family was not yet complete, Marti and Ivan later welcomed Bryan Ivan and Joshua Cole, rounding out their beautiful family of nine. On January 18, 2008, Marti and Ivan were sealed as eternal companions in the Logan Temple, a sacred milestone in their journey together.

Throughout her life, Marti worked tirelessly to support her family. She held positions in Admissions at Primary Children’s Hospital, served as Night Supervisor at Harmon’s Grocery, worked as a clerk at K-Mart, Herff Jones, and later helped Ivan build and run Mountain States Trucking Company. Yet her greatest and most cherished role was being a mother. Marti believed wholeheartedly in her children’s ability to become anything they aspired to be, and she nurtured each of them with unconditional love and faith.

Marti had a deep and enduring relationship with her Heavenly Father. Her testimony of the gospel grew line upon line, shaped by experiences lovingly prepared for her by a Father who knew His fiery, passionate, and independent red-haired daughter perfectly. Of her church callings, two brought her the greatest joy: serving as a humanitarian leader and working with the Young Women. The girls she mentored became “her girls” for life, a testament to the love and devotion she poured into her service.

Marti’s legacy is one of family and love. She leaves behind a large and devoted family who will forever cherish her example of strength and unwavering belief in each of them. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Marti is survived by her children Troy (Tawni) Pearmain, Jodi Morgan, Shelly Rasmussen, Scott Pearmain, Bryan (Michelle) Bingham, Josh (Treona) Bingham, Geri (Lee) Rasmussen, Julie (Ken) Oxborrow, Camilla (Curtis) Williams. Sister Maxine Mortensen and brother Bill Nye. 31 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her eternal companion Ivan, her parents William Nye and Verda Odell, stepfather Ray Odell, and two sons-in-law Michael Morgan and Boyd Welch and too many cherished dogs to name.
