Mary Lou Thomas Thompson

Mary Lou Thomas Thompson, 88, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 in Tremonton, Utah after a brief illness. She was born February 4, 1927 in Tremonton to John Charles Thomas and Margaret Ann Bennett. She was the youngest of eight children.

Mary Lou attended McKinley Elementary and Bear River High School. She married LeRoy Junior Thompson on November 4, 1944. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on January 5, 1956. Together they raised 5 children.

Mary Lou worked at King’s Variety Store for 37 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was kept busy attending concerts, ball games, recitals and dance competitions to support both grandchildren and great grandchildren, She loved flowers, gardening and keeping an immaculate home and yard. When weather didn’t permit gardening, she spent many hours doing jigsaw puzzles.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings in Relief Society, Primary, Young Women’s, Sunday School and for many years as the Ward Librarian.

Surviving are children: Mary Ann Daniels (Thayne) of Malad, ID, Sharon Potter (Craig) of Collinston, UT, Karen Richardson (Kelly) of Roy, UT, J.R. Thompson (Angie) of Garland, UT and Son-in-law, Jim Poulsen of Deweyville, UT. Also surviving are twenty grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, her daughter, Karleen Poulsen, her parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton First Ward Chapel (116 N. Tremont St., Tremonton, UT), with Bishop Curtis Stimpson officiating. Family and friends may call Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E., Tremonton, UT). Interment will be at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
