Melba passed away September 29, 2025. Cause of death was, "Too many birthdays!"
Melba Was born June 28, 1932, in Logan, Utah at her parent's home. Her parents were Herman and Annie Hincks Steffenhagen. She had one brother, Marvin, and one sister Evelyn. She spent her childhood in Logan, living in the 10th Ward.
She attended school at Adams Elementary and the Junior and Senior High Schools. She graduated in 1950 and went to work at Woolworths.
She married Merlin Didericksen on August 12, 1953. After having her first daughter, Connie, Merlin was drafted into the Army and served in Korea. Upon his return, they were sealed in the Logan Temple and Connie was sealed to them.
They first lived in Tremonton, then Connie and Melba moved to Logan while Merlin was in the Army. When Merlin returned from the service, they moved to Thatcher where they remained for the rest of their lives.
Melba had three more children, Diane, Roger, and Dennis.
She served as a teacher in Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society as well as a Relief Society Presidency Counselor and Secretary, twice each, Compassionate Service Leader and Visiting Teacher.
She started working again in 1974 at Brigham Apparel and Tremonton Sportswear, before moving to La-Z-Boy where she was a supervisor before retiring in 1995.
She and Merlin enjoyed fishing and trips to Yellowstone and Oklahoma.
Her favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved having family dinners for every holiday.
She made quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Melba had four children, fourteen grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by everybody else who is still alive and preceded in death by all those who aren’t still alive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11 A.M. at the Thatcher Penrose Church (11475 W 10400 N- Thatcher). Viewings will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 6-8 P.M. at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N 100 E- Tremonton) and prior to the service at the church from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Interment will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed below.
