Nancy Sue Parberry

Nancy Sue Parberry, née Leatherberry, died at the age of 77 on August 1, 2025 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah at the McKay-Dee Hospital. Nancy was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a surrogate mother to humans and animals alike.

Nancy was born to William James Leatherberry Sr and Edith Lynn Kotarac on March 17, 1948 in Brawley, Imperial County, California. As a toddler she accompanied her family to Germany as her father was in the Army. Upon returning to the United States, she was raised in southern California. She graduated from Campo High School, Campo California in 1966.

Nancy explored a variety of employment opportunities before settling on the medical field. She first became a CNA in the 1970’s. She then continued her education at the Emily Griffith Opportunity School in Denver, Colorado where she completed her LPN nursing degree in 1984. Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Denver was her first home, where she worked on 2 East in the Neuro-Trauma Unit, it was the highlight of her career. She went on to work labor and delivery at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, CA. She transitioned to convalescent care before returning to Denver where she worked at Anthem BC/BS until retiring in 2005.

Nancy had various hobbies with a great love of the outdoors, but her true passion was her family. She was everything to her 4 children, acting as both mother and father. She instilled compassion, service and love through her example to love everyone as they were.

She is survived by her brother Bill and sisters Carolyn, Marcia, and Yvonne. She is also survived by her four children: Tiffany and Brant Cate, Brett and Michelle Mallec, Wendy and Val Kraus, and Julie Parberry; her 14 grandchildren: Sarah Cate Popolizio and Christopher, Michael and Jessica, Carson and Emily, Dean and Deidre, Jordan and Katie, Amanda and Brian, Anna, Zachary and Autumn, Joshua and Olivia, Leah Kraus Howard and Mark, Noah, Austin and Bailey, Lauren, and Jaycee; her 17 great-grandchildren: Alyson, Dustin, Avery, Daniella, Desiree, Ayla, Aubrey, Oliver, Lily, Rook, Michael, Brett, Aiden, Chase, Theodore, Rose, and Selene. She is also survived by niece, nephews, and many adopted children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents William James Leatherberry Sr and Edith Lynn Kotarac, and her beloved sister Dr. Jacqueline Alice Kotarac.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday August 16, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Garland Tabernacle 140 West Factory Street, Garland, UT 84312. There will be a viewing on Friday August 15th from 6:00-8:00pm at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton 111 North 100 East Tremonton, UT 84337. As well as a short viewing Saturday morning 11:45-12:30pm followed directly by the funeral at the Garland Tabernacle.
