Norman Kaye Johnson

September 12, 1947 — September 25, 2023

Norman Kaye Johnson, 76 of Thatcher, UT, passed away on September 25, 2023, peacefully with his loving family at his side. He was born on September 12, 1947 to LaVar Moroni Johnson and Bertha Naomi Roderick. He attended Thatcher Elementary, Bear River Junior and Bear River High School where he lettered in swimming, even earning a Gold Medal in the butterfly. He attended USU for a brief stint before getting drafted into the Army where he earned an honorable discharge. He married Susan Lynne May; they were later divorced.  He then married his forever sweetheart, Toni Frank.

He worked for Thiokol as a Tactical Engineer for many years, Bear River Canal Company and Reed Stokes Farming.

Norm had an array of hobbies that he enjoyed. His love of riding his motorcycle in his younger years, fishing up to Devil’s Creek, hunting in Portage, playing pool with his buddies, watching his Minnesota Vikings disappoint him year after year and his love of watching the Denver Broncos lose. He was a man of many talents, which included woodworking “as long as you had plans”, tinkering in his shop and fixing anything and everything around the house.

We will miss his quick wit and his sense of humor. We will honor him by having a chocolate milkshake and piece of apple pie.

He is survived by his loving wife, Toni Frank Johnson, five children; Jennifer Kaye Davis (Benton), Scott D. Thorsen (Misty), Cari Ann White (Matthew), Randi Jo Yepez and Jami Johnson, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister, Bonnie Abel and fur-baby Maisie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Ed Abel and daughter Cami Sue Nelson.

We would like to give a special thanks to his care team at CNS that has helped him the last several months. Misty, Brett and Leora we thank you for your help, patience and support.
