Norris Jay Stenquist, age 92, passed away on October 9, 2025, in Tremonton, Utah. He was born on October 23, 1932, to John Einor and Marjorie Stenquist in Tremonton.

On September 12, 1952, he married Ann Heath Stenquist in Logan, Utah. Ann preceded him in death on May 30, 2021.

Norris lived in several places throughout his life, including Tremonton, Utah; Logan, Utah; Roosevelt, Utah and Ft Collins, Colorado. He graduated from Bear River High School in 1950 and went on to earn degrees from Weber College, Utah State University (B.S. in 1957 and M.S. in 1966), and Colorado State University (Ph.D. in 1958).

Norris worked at the Utah State University Extension Service and was assigned to the Uintah Basin working with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (1957-1963). Then he was assigned as Weber County agent (1963-1965). Then he was assigned as the Uintah Count agent in Vernal, Utah (1968-1969). Later he was assigned as Livestock Specialist for the nine northern counties of Utah (1969-1995). Norris also taught classes as a professor at Utah State University in the Animal Science Department. He retired May 1997 from Utah State University.

Norris honorably served in the U.S. Army for two years with the rank of Sergeant.

Throughout his distinguished career, he received numerous accolades, including the Honorary State Farmer Degree from FFA, the 1995 Western Section Animal Science Award from the Animal Science Department of Utah State University, and the Overall Specialist Award from the USU Extension Service Specialist Association. He was also a member of Gamma Delta Stigma and a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Norris is survived by his sons, Dale Stenquist and Lynn Stenquist; daughter, Suzann (Mike) Kidd; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Delos Stenquist, and sister, Shirley Iverson.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann; son, Ross Stenquist; parents, Einor and Marjorie Stenquist; brothers, Robert and Claine Stenquist; sister, Leah Stenquist; and grandson, Ryan Udy.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11 A.M. at the Tremonton 3rd Ward Church (9590 N 6800 W, Tremonton). Viewings will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 6-8 P.M. at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N 100 E, Tremonton) and prior to the service at the church from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed below.
