Obituary

Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard Thomas “Dick” Roche passed away due to complications incident to age on June 12, 2026, in Ogden, Utah, finally reuniting with his loving, eternal companion, Marilyn. Dick was born on February 1, 1939, in Brigham City, Utah to Lawrence and Allie Roche of Corinne. He was the third of five children. He was a graduate of Box Elder High School and attended Utah State University where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi.

Dick and Marilyn were married on November 3, 1962, in Brigham City and were later sealed for time and eternity in the Logan Utah Temple. They made a home together in Brigham City, Logan, and finally Tremonton, where they lived for more than 55 years.

Dick joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1967 and was a faithful member with a strong testimony and a desire to serve others, teaching his children these virtues in quiet but impactful ways. He served in various callings, first in the Tremonton Fifth Ward and then the Tremonton Fourth Ward, including as a ward membership clerk, in various Young Men’s and Scouting callings, a stake Seventy, and more recently as a temple worker at the Brigham City Temple. In his last year in particular he faithfully attended the temple and performed ordinances for his ancestors typically at least weekly, bringing more of his family unto Christ.

Dick knew how to work, working on his family’s farm from childhood and trucking livestock for his father’s business around the Intermountain region for several years until he started his family. Professionally, Dick worked as a department and assistant manager for Safeway in Tremonton and Brigham for many years, moving on to oversee various shipping and receiving operations for Thiokol, OEA, and finally AutoLiv from which he retired in 1997 only due to health issues. Even his retirement was initially short-lived as he went to work in his 70s for Greer’s Do It Best Hardware for several years. He loved helping people, whether interacting with customers at many of his jobs, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, or serving at the temple.

Dick is survived by his daughter Kelly (Robert) Bettridge and son Kyle (Nicole) Roche; granddaughter Ashley (Spencer) Barrett and grandsons Tyler Roche and Charlie Roche; great-grandsons Elder Brendan Barrett and Korver Barrett and great-granddaughter Roxena Barrett; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

Dick is preceded in death by his eternal companion and wife, Marilyn; his parents; his siblings Marilyn, Larry, Cyril, and Aileen; as well as several extended family members.
