Robert “Bob” Curry Hillard, 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Bob was born on January 24, 1952, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, to Charles Vivian Hillard and Dolan Anderson. The eldest of four children, he grew up alongside his brother Charles “Buddy” and sisters Mary Katherine and Nancy. His early years were spent in Tennessee, Illinois, and Ohio before his family settled in Merritt Island, Florida.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy, with assignments that took him from Norfolk, Virginia, to San Diego, California. He cherished his time in the Navy and often spoke fondly of the experiences and friendships he gained during his service.
On May 23, 1987, Bob married the love of his life, Michele Norr. Their bond was later solemnized in the Logan Utah Temple on November 22, 1994, and they shared a life filled with love, faith, and family.
Bob worked for Thiokol and later retired from the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) in January 2015. After retirement, he found great joy in serving as a temple worker in the Brigham City Utah Temple, a calling he cherished deeply.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since his baptism on June 24, 1990, Bob served faithfully in many callings, including Scout Leader, Bishopric Counselor, and High Priest Group Leader. His faith was a guiding light in his life and a source of strength to those around him.
Bob’s greatest joy came from his family, especially his grandchildren—Shayelle, Amree, and Jett. He was their biggest fan, rarely missing a game, concert, recital, or any event in which they participated. His love and support were unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife Michele; his children Dustie (Scott) Tucker, Robert Jason Hillard, Ashlee (Braydon) Wise, Curry Nathaniel Hillard; his mother-in-law, Coralee Norr, grandchildren and his siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law D.R. Norr, and brothers-in-law Tony Gore and Brent Scott.
Bob’s legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Bear River Valley Hospital emergency room and transfusion staff, as well as Cherie from Intermountain Home Health and Jamie and the Hospice staff, for their love, compassion, and kindness to Bob and the family during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests a donation be made to a Veteran’s charity or to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionary fund.
