Our favorite cowboy, Robert W. Roundy, returned home July 11, 2018. Dad was born August 7, 1936 to James Burnell and Rowane Macfarlane Roundy and was raised in his beloved hometown of Fielding, Utah. Dad was sealed to Jane Jenele Bennett (Janie) in the Logan, UT Temple. They have been blessed with seven children, 30 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Dad had a great love and appreciation for God, family, and his country. His desire to do what is right and his faith in Christ brought changes in him that were foundational to our family. He and mom served as missionaries in Nauvoo, Illinois, where he was a teamster. He loved his mission and his fellow teamsters, who became lifelong friends. Dad loved going to the temple, it was one of his favorite things to do.
Dad was a man of action, often times impulsive, but quick to help the one. His wit and charm instantly drew people to him. He never met a stranger. His ability to make friendships contributed to his successful career. Simply put, he loved people and reminded us that “people need love most when they deserve it least”.
He served his country in the USAF and taught us to never take for granted the freedoms we enjoy. His family was everything to him and he was everything to his family. He was well known for his one-liners and taught us that “when the going gets tough the tough get going” to “Cowboy up” and to “Never give up.”
Bob was preceded in death by Jimmi Cool, the family’s favorite horse.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Jenele Bennett Roundy-Fruit Heights, UT; and seven children, Mike (Melanie) Roundy-Stone, ID, Jill (Steve) Hatch-Layton, UT, Matt (Lorie) Roundy-Fruit Heights, UT, Emerson Todacheenie-New Mexico, Lisa (Scott) Hatch-Layton, UT, Kristy (Brian) Baxter-Alpine, UT, Jamie (Clay) Boyce- Boise, ID, Marcie (Jeff) Wasden-South Jordan, UT.
Special thanks to the staff and caretakers at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home.
