1946 Ronald J Taylor 2026

Ronald J Taylor

December 21, 1946 — March 17, 2026

Deweyville

Ronald J Taylor was born on December 21, 1946, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Effie Mathews Crosby and Maurel M Taylor. He grew up in Cedarview, Utah, on a family farm nestled in the foothills of the Uinta Mountains, where hard work and quiet determination became the hallmarks of his character.

Though Ron faced physical challenges throughout his life — including a diagnosis of Charcot-Marie-Tooth syndrome at age 32 — he met each difficulty with steady courage and an unshakeable faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ. That faith was the center of everything he did.

From his youth, Ron served faithfully in his church, sharing his love of music by playing piano and accompanying hymns for congregations throughout the area. He later left his studies at Weber State College to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern States Mission, an experience that shaped him deeply and produced friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Returning home, he completed degrees in Microbiology and Chemistry and built a distinguished career in environmental compliance, ultimately serving as Manager of Environmental Safety at Autoliv. He retired in 2000.

Ron's most treasured years were devoted to family history work alongside his wife, Marilyn Barrus, whom he married on April 18, 1969, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they served in numerous church missions — at family history centers, at Church headquarters, a virtual mission to the Trinidad Part of Spain and most recently with the Virtual Records of the Church. Ron personally contributed thousands of names for temple ordinances, a legacy of devotion that will bless generations to come.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children Matthew (Emily), Jan (James) Judd, Jonathon (LeAnna), Paul, Christopher (Seagull), Melissa (Shane) Ashby, and Mark (Mindee); 25 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marlene (Frank) McMullin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Guy Lynn Taylor, and his in-laws, Winford and Orlean Barrus.

Ron will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for his family. His was a life of service, and his legacy will endure.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Ron’s legacy of service by easing the burden of others and consider paying off lunch debt at a local school, or donating to your local food bank or preferred charity.
